
All throughout my life, I always had trouble expressing myself in writing, and speaking. I never really liked English just for the fact that I wasn’t able to fully get my point across on paper. During this course, I was encouraged to expand and practice my writing skills. The course learning objectives helped me as well to grow as a writer. My experience in English class this semester has been beneficial and has greatly advanced my writing career. By delving into many genres, learning crucial writing techniques, and utilizing rhetorical principles, I have experienced a noticeable progress in my capacity to convey ideas clearly and concisely through written communication.
One of the main ways I engaged with the course material was by exploring various genres and rhetorical settings. I demonstrated my proficiency in navigating and understanding a broad range of genres by showcasing an in-depth examination of numerous writing styles and rhetorical situations. Specifically, while reading different texts about a student’s journey with language. “Mother Tongue” is a personal narrative as much as an analysis of language. I was able to obtain tips from Tan’s deft use of narrative devices. Knowing how to incorporate personal experiences into writing can help authors’ works become more authentic and emotionally complex. Students are encouraged to use personal experiences to add realism and interest to their writing. This text specifically inspired me while writing my personal narrative because I related to it the most out of all the texts we read so far in the beginning of the semester. My personal narrative really allowed me to practice on writing and expressing myself with my own writer’s voice. The focus on reading, drafting, working with others, rewriting, and editing has given me a wide range of tools for producing quality writing. My ability to write well-organized, polished pieces has improved as a result of working on tasks that called for iterative approaches. The techniques I’ve acquired have influenced my writing practice, assisting in the development of a more thorough and deliberate writing process.
When writing my research essay, it allowed me to utilize tools to address different crowds, specifically articles online. I learned how to use the ccny library database and look for scholarly articles. Through the use of both traditional print and contemporary digital technologies, I was able to effectively write to a variety of audiences. I used these platforms with flexibility, demonstrating my knowledge of their various effects on viewer engagement. I was exposed to a wide range of vocabulary and writing styles when you conduct research. This exposure helped me become more proficient in the language and expanded my own vocabulary. It inspired me to develop your writing voice as well as mother tongue and try out various expressions. Personally as a writer, I love to increase my vocabulary and learn different words to better express myself. When I was younger, I was never able to articulate myself the best so I always take into account new phrases and words quickly. This essay also taught me to use my time effectively and it isn’t something to be rushed.
Reading different narratives and articles exposed me to a wide range of writing styles, offering a rich expression of language.

I was able to follow complex storylines and understand complicated language which improved with reading comprehension. It also enhanced my proficiency by establishing grammar rules and language conventions .
I feel as though I could have practiced key rhetorical terms and strategies. Strengthening the utilization of essential rhetorical phrases and techniques in written contexts necessitates a thoughtful and comprehensive strategy. First, a strong basis is provided by comprehending the rhetorical situation, which includes the audience, purpose, and context. By adapting my words and tone to the particular rhetorical environment, I can make sure that my message is understood well. I can create credibility, arouse feelings, and make a compelling case by utilizing ethos, pathos, and logos. Transitional words and phrases improve the coherence of my writing by acting as links between concepts. Using rhetorical devices like similes and analogies intentionally gives my writing more depth and originality. I concentrate on honing these components during the rewriting phase, giving close consideration to my composition’s overall rhetorical success. Peer reviews and criticism provide me with valuable insights into how my rhetorical choices are taken, which aids in my ongoing refining. My development as a writer is aided by regular practice and reflection on the use of rhetorical terminology, which gives me the confidence and expertise to handle a variety of writing scenarios.
To sum up, English class has been a furnace for my development as a writer.
